You can donate now and help give these two families a future.
Since civil war broke out in Syria, the situation for Syrian refugees living in the Middle East has grown more dire with each passing day. Millions of people face a perilous present with no promise for a better future.
But one small ray of light is that our applications to help Fawaz and Amira and their six small kids, and Hanan’s parents and their five teenagers, were accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada this spring. The families will be safe. The children will have a future.
We have expanded our little group (and now Hussein and Safaa are members too!), and currently, we should have enough money in our savings account to keep a roof over the families’ heads in Lebanon — and the school-aged children in school, until they arrive, probably in late 2018 or early 2019
Our job right now is to raise a total of $50,000 to cover the first year of settlement — rent, furniture, food, clothing, transportation, and other expenses — for both families.
In fall 2018, we will also begin an in-kind donations drive.
